Preventative dental care is one of the best ways to save time and money on your health expenses, yet it’s often one of the first things people tend to cut when they don’t have spare income. Unfortunately, this often leads to patients who come into our office in a lot of pain, and the only way to treat them is through expensive dental restorations.
Preventative dental care is relatively easy to fit into anyone’s schedule. Typically, appointments for preventive care need to be made once every six months. If you haven’t had a dental care appointment in the last six months, don’t worry. It’s possible to schedule an appointment even if it has been years since your last dental cleaning.
If your last dental appointment was a while ago, the dentist would likely start by taking x-rays. These pictures can show the dentist problems with your teeth, gums, and jaws that aren’t evident during the rest of the exam. These images are saved and compared over your lifetime to newer images to detect serious issues such as decay and cancer.
Preventative care will almost always include teeth cleaning. These cleanings are designed to remove plaque between teeth and along the gum line. Since plaque has acidic properties, it can cause decay when it is allowed to build up. This type of decay can lead to expensive and time-consuming procedures such as crown replacement and root canals.
Mahajan Dentistry currently offers the following:
By regularly having your teeth cleaned, it’s possible to avoid expensive dental procedures. While avoiding them altogether may not be possible, their frequency will likely be significantly reduced.
